Minutes of November Mountain Tamers Meeting
November 14, 2009
Calais/Woodbury, Vermont
November 12, 2009 - Mountain Tamers
The meeting was called to order at 7:14 p.m. with eight members present.
Secretary’s Report – There was no newsletter sent out so the secretary read the minutes of the last meeting. Geri Gilman made the motion and seconded Steve Gray with the correction of Kurt Hawkins to Kirk Gallant. Motion carried by members present.
Treasurer’s Report – copies of the September and October Treasurer’s report was presented to the members. Roy explained the Treasurer’s reports to the members present. Steve Gray made motion Eric Molleur seconded to accept both reports. Carried by members present
Trails Report – Steve Gray spoke that he and Bob Anderson have started signing the trails. Just a few spots still need to be done. Steve is going to take inventory on what, if any, signs we need to purchase. Steve explained how the signs fade and get brittle and crack from time in the sun. Members feel that Steve needs to get what he needs for signs.
Problems: A culvert missing off of Sand Hill Road. Earl might have some culvert to replace this one. Steve thinks someone stole this culvert. Will be surveying trails to make sure there are no trees down for the upcoming season. On Coleman Parkers land there is a little brook that crosses the trail and it had some birch logs and plank in it. Depending on conditions this winter this may have to be looked at. Someday this should have something done with it.
Eric Molleur – met with Brain Shatney regarding the trail by his house. Eric was told the Town of Woodbury trail committee has some money to match us for the driveway trail project. Eric met with the two landowners involved to make sure that our plans are alright with them. It appears to be okay with them. There are a couple of very minor things that need to be done and looked at to accomplish this. Hopefully this project will be done in the next week to two weeks. A culvert will need to be purchased for this project. VAST will reimburse the club up to $500.00 for this project. Steve is concerned whether this project can be accomplished for $1,000.00. This is a very dangerous situation which has been going on for some time and has to dealt with no matter what the cost is. Steve Gray made the motion and seconded by Roy Scott, that if the price for this project exceeds available funds the club go ahead and do the project. Motion carried by all members present.
A bridge in South Woodbury needs to be redecked and the bridge by Brian Shatney’s needs to be straightened.
Steve Gray asked if the landowners appreciation letter has been done. Earl is working on it and should be out in a few days.
New Business
The mailing and coping of the newsletters were discussed. Geri and Cassie will explore this issue and give us a report next month.
Eric gave us an update of the groomer. Tracks back on drove up and down driveway, hydraulic oil still needs to be changed. One hose is still leaking on blade and needs to be replaced. Few parts left to order. Total cost as of now $4,749.54. A check been cut for $3,773.15 to pay for costs as of now. Once the repairs are finished the groomer should be okay for the winter season.
Volunteer TMA’s – The club has four extra volunteer tma’s this year. The members present voted to give them to: Geri Gilman, Max Gray, William Gray, Bob Anderson. Eric Molleur made this motion and was seconded by Roy scott.
MOTION TO ADJOURN – Motion to adjourn made by Geri Gilman and seconded by Eric Molluer. Motion carried by members present.
